Second Grade

2nd Grade

Students in Second Grade transition from reading smaller units, such as sound-by-sound, to word-by-word or sentence-by sentence. Students spend some time on foundational skills, such as phonics and word analysis, but spend a substantial amount of the reading block on developing vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and inquiry skills.
